8. The revenue derived from the registration of trade marks showed an increase over that for the preceding year. This is accounted for by the fact that the increased scale of fees introduced on the 1st September, 1931 was in force throughout the whole period under review, as the number of applications for registration decreased by about twelve per cent.

9. Nine applications for registration were opposed during the year and, in every case, the applications for registration were
