9. Only urgent repairs to buildings were carried out. The verandah roof of Class A Quarters at Hung Hom was relaid and the block of watchmen's quarters renovated.

19. In the late afternoon of April 20th, a cloud-burst occurred in the New Territories which caused considerable damage to the Railway, the most serious being at Bridge 22, Mile 93. Here the huge volume of water tearing down a precipitous mountain stream bed scoured away the approach bank to the bridge, in between the passage of two trains, the latter train being wrecked.

20. At Bridge 14A, Mile 6, the abnormal volume of water overflowing from a much larger stream carried away 65 yards of embankment.
