# Chapter III.
## REPORT BY THE INSPECTORS OF ENGLISH SCHOOLS.
### GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS.
Queen's College.-Head Master, Mr. F. J. de Roine B. Sc. The maximum monthly enrolment was 598. The average attendance was 544
2. At the External Examinations held in November by the University of Hong Kong, 126 were presented, of whom 54 passed with two honours and thirty-one distinctions. Three Government Education Scholarships tenable at Hong Kong University were gained by Queen's College boys.
3. At the Internal Examinations 286 passed out of 414 presented.
4. During the year Class Libraries for Classes 1 to 7 as well as a Physics Library and a Chemistry Library were instituted.
5. The usual athletic activities were carried on as keenly as ever throughout the year.
6. King's College. Head Master, Mr. A. Morris, A.C.P. The maximum monthly enrolment was 939 and the average attendance 869.
7. At the University Matriculation and Local Examinations out of ninety-eight examined, thirty-one passed with twenty-four distinctions.
8. At the Annual School Examination 83% gained promotion to higher classes.
9. During the year Mrs. Morris, M.B.E. retired after completing 26 years' service.
10. The College suffered a great loss by the death of Mr. W. W. Fox after 19 years' loyal service.
11. The College's first athletic sports meeting was very successful.
12. Voluntary Gymnastics and Woodwork classes after school hours were well attended.
13. Ellis Kadoorie School. The Maximum Enrolment was 450 and the Average Attendance 412. Mr. A. T. Hamilton acted as Head Master during the absence on leave of Mr. W. Kay, M.A. The Head Master reports an uneventful but very satisfactory year. In the Class 4 Examination 80% passed while in the remaining classes 96% gained promotion.
