ESTABLISHMENT OF FUNDAMENTAL BENCH MARK, COSMOPOLITAN DOCK.
From analysis of hourly tidal readings at Cosmopolitan Dock over a period of 1 year from 29.1.29 to 28.1.30 a Mean Sea Level on the Dock Tide Pole was obtained.
The F.B.M. at Cosmopolitan Dock, Tai Kok Tsui was established as 8.672 above this Mean Sea Level of 1929-30.
It was then possible to find the relation of the Datum Value ultimately decided upon for this F.B.M. in regard to M.S.L. at Cosmopolitan Dock.
No Datum Value has yet been decided upon for this F.B.M. as it remains to carry a line of levels across the harbour from Hong Kong Datum to Kowloon.
A network of levels double levelled to existing staple B.Ms. in Kowloon from F.B.M. Cosmopolitan Dock is in progress. To date 23 existing staple Bench Marks have been levelled to.
LEVELLING, THE ISLAND OF HONG KONG.
Work has also been started on the Island. The analysis of tidal readings from the Automatic Tide Gauges at Kennedy Town and Ah Kung Ngam is now in progress and about 5 miles of levelling has been carried out to connect up with the B.M. fixed in Naval Yard known as "Rifleman's Bolt".
This work is being continued.
