Works under the Buildings Ordinance
31. As forecasted in the 1928 Report, a considerable increase has taken place in the number of new works dealt with in 1929.
Plans approved for new houses on the Praya East Reclamation approximately account for the increased number of Chinese houses in course of erection at the end of 1929. The small decrease recorded in the number of "non-domestic" buildings completed during 1929 is accounted for by the fact that certain buildings commenced during 1928 were still in progress at the end of 1929. A comparison of these figures, with actual work in hand at the end of the year, indicates a probable further decrease in the number of buildings of the "non-domestic" type which should be completed during 1930.
Attention is drawn to the graph embodied in this Report which is of interest as showing the number of plans approved and houses completed during the period from 1905 to 1929.
32. Plans. The following is a tabulated statement showing the number and type of buildings, in connection with which plans were deposited during the year, the figures for 1928 being given in a parallel column for purposes of comparison:
