10. SERVICE traffic
shows a large increase over the previous year. This is due to some extent to the increase in paid traffic and to a large extent to tests carried out with other stations to determine the range of our transmitters and to explore the possibilities of opening new services.
Service traffic also includes messages relating to rates exchanged between other administrations, questions of service, messages on mail matters, navigation warnings etc. While every endeavour is made to keep this class of traffic down to the lowest possible level the volume is bound to be large so long as the expansion of services continues.
