(a) The Zymotic Death rate was only 45 in spit of

a severe epidemic of Small-pox.

These are set out in descending order of incidence. three most serious having been Small pox, Typhoid and Diphtheria.

The large number of Small-pox deaths (mostly 'dumped') was due to a severe epidemic which reached its height early in 1929 and will be reported, separately, elsewhere.* There were only 126 deaths from this disease the previous year.
