(a.) Roads.-The undermentioned roads were macadamized, kerbed, and channelled, the footpaths being paved with granolithic paving slabs and the necessary improvements made in front of new buildings erected during the year. These comprise the principal works undertaken under this heading.

(i.) Training Nullahs.-The cutting of trenches to prevent the formation of mosquito breeding pools was carried on during the year.
The Gascoigne Road nullah was bridged over at the spot opposite the entrance to the Club de Recreio.
Channels were laid in the swamp adjacent to the Mong Kok nullah near the No. 8 Railway Bridge.
Trenches were cut and channel and French drain laid at the Kowloon Cricket Club ground.
