89. Maintenance of Buildings.-The deferred programme of works for the maintenance of Government Buildings was carried out, and other repairs where necessary were executed.

90. Improvements to Buildings.-A few minor improvements were carried out under this heading. The principal items being:-Cheung Chau Police Station.-Erection of a roof over an external staircase from the kitchen to the quarters. Lai Chi Kok Gaol. Provision of an emergency exit from the Warders' Dormitory, and minor alterations to windows. Gap Rock Lighthouse.--Waterproofing the concrete roofs.

91. Maintenance of Furniture.--Seventeen single articles or part sets of furniture were supplied to Officers' Quarters, and eight articles to offices and schools. Numerous repairs were also made.

93. Maintenance of Telephones.-The lines and instruments were maintained in good order. The aerial line between Sha Tau Kok Police Station and Kat O Island was dismantled between the 12th and 26th October.
The telephones and electrical signalling apparatus on the British Section of the Kowloon-Canton Railway were also maintained in good condition, and time signal bells, operated from the Kowloon Station, were installed in all other stations.
