During the latter part of the year Dr. J. T. Smalley acted as Principal Civil Medical Officer owing to the illness of the late Dr. J. B. Addison, M.B.E.

Dr. W. B. A. Moore was absent on leave from February 5th to the end of the year. On his way back to the Colony he attended the 7th Congress of the Far Eastern Association of Tropical Medicine which was held at Calcutta from December 3rd to 10th.

(b) FINANCIAL.

The amount sanctioned in the Estimates was $781,991 and the Expenditure was $717,532.41.
