The contract for this work was let and the work started towards the end of the year. Satisfactory progress was made.

A short length of walling was completed on the lower section, but upon the receipt of an application from the Con- tractor for an adjustment of the prices of the contract the opportunity was taken to close the contract.

(g). Wongneichong Development,-Road This work was referred to in paragraph 123 (1) of last year's Report.

A contract was let to Messrs. Yee Lee & Co. for the sum of $23,234 on 29th September, 1926.

Progress was retarded, delay being caused by the slow removal of matsheds occupied by late tenants of village houses at Wongneichong.
