STAFF.
Until the return from leave on 5th February of Mr. W. J. E. Mackenzie, Capt. M. J. Reidy acted as Colonial Veterinary Surgeon.
Senior Inspector H. J. Knight was in charge at Kennedy Town until he went on leave on 7th April prior to retirement. He was succeeded by Inspector Old from Ma Tau Kok.
Inspector W. Old was in charge at Ma Tau Kok until he was transferred to take charge at Kennedy Town.
Inspector Aslett was transferred from general duties to take charge at Ma Tau Kok on 23rd March.
Inspectors Charity and Braley continued at Kennedy Town throughout the year.
Overseer Johannsen was in charge of Central and Western Markets throughout the year.
GENERAL STATISTICS.
The following statistics are still considerably affected by the disturbed state of South China.
Cattle: The total number of cattle admitted to the Depots during 1926 was 46,318 against 45,482 in 1925. In Kennedy Town 37,822 were admitted against 37,285 in 1925. In Ma Tau Kok 8,496 were admitted against 8,247 in 1925. The above are the only abattoirs where cattle are slaughtered in the Colony.
Pigs: The total number of pigs admitted to Kennedy Town was 178,568 against 249,317 in 1925. This includes 21,733 admitted to Kennedy Town and afterwards transferred to other local depots in the Colony, or exported from the Colony.
Sheep and Goats: 22,689 was the total number admitted to Kennedy Town against 21,054 in 1925. As in the case of Pigs, this includes 10,869 admitted to Kennedy Town and afterwards transferred or exported.
