# GAMBLING.

Two hundred and thirty-three gambling warrants successfully executed during the year as against 286 in 1925. There was one case in which no conviction was obtained.

There were 99 lottery cases, compared with 50 in 1925. During the year Police had occasion to stop several lotteries. The promoters appeared to be under the false impression that donation of a part of the proceeds to a philanthropic object rendered a lottery permissible.

# PROPERTY REPORTED STOLEN AND PROPERTY RECOVERED.

The estimated value of property stolen during the year was $484,382.53 as against $584,578.61 in 1925 a decrease of $100,196.08 or 20.6%.

The average for the last five years is $641,866.38.

The value of property recovered during the year was $53,359.30 or 11% of the value of the property stolen, as against $52,022.09 or 8.9% of the property stolen in 1925, an increase of 2.1% in the ratio between the property stolen and property recovered.
