10. The materials for the extension to the Awnings over the Main Platform at Kowloon arrived from England and Canada in August and September, and erection was commenced in December.
11. The bridge at the second mile, known as No. 4 Bridge and referred to in last year's Report, was completed in May and traffic diverted back over the eastern spans.
12. The laying of underground cables in substitution for aerial telephone wires was continued back from Taipo at Mile 15 to Mile 9. This work is being carried out by the Public Works Department.
13. The platforms at Taipo and Fanling Stations were resurfaced with tar macadam and carpeting, the work being carried out by the Public Works (Roads) Department.
14. The track north of Taipo Station was re-arranged, so as to provide a through main line and a loop similar to all other out-stations.
15. Two specially made point indicators were installed at Taipo Market Station in place of the two fixed signals which were removed.
16. 300 feet of granite curbing was laid at Taipo Market Station to form a short platform for this growing Station.
17. Most of the pipe point rodding at out stations was replaced by channel rodding.
18. A narrow roadway was formed under the first span of Bridge No. 33, necessitating the building of a retaining wall to support the bank surrounding the pier. The work was carried out by the Public Works Department.
19. At Mile 15, a length of 120 feet of side retaining wall supporting a deep cutting with a 5-foot nullah at the toe, damaged in 1923, was rebuilt in cement concrete. The cutting slope was redressed and returfed, and a quantity of overburden removed from the top.
20. At Lowu the sidings were extended for about 300 feet to facilitate shunting operations.
21. Three lengths of 36'-0" rail were renewed in Cutting No. 1 at Mile 1, owing to scaling.
22. 2,765 sleepers were condemned and renewed. Of these renewals 427 were of hardwood, including 18 crossing or bridge timbers, and 2,320 were of concrete. Owing to the fact that the concrete sleepers are not giving satisfaction, it was decided that
