Expenditure.

1. The amounts voted, as compared with those actually expended by the Department under the various headings, were as follows:

With regard to (i), the saving is due partly to higher rate of exchange than the one at which the sterling salaries in the Estimates were converted and partly to vacant posts not having been filled during the year.

In the case of (ii), savings occurred on the following sub-heads as set forth below:-
