The Maternity Department.-It was originally hoped that sometime during the year the Victoria Hospital would open for the admission of European Maternity cases but this was not realised.
In March, two wards (containing 10 beds), which accommodate Chinese, Japanese and Indian women were handed over to the care of the Honorary Visiting obstetrician, Prof. R. E. Tottenham of the Hongkong University. The remaining 8 beds for 1st and 2nd class Europeans and Chinese continue under the care of the Medical Officer in charge of the Civil Hospital.
