191. Miscellaneous Water Works.-The following is a statement of the expenditure on works carried out under this heading:-

(1) Repairs to Catch water, $92.46 (2) Supply to Wong Uk, $1,200.27 (3) Minor Extensions to Mains, $3,778.67 (4) Pedestal Hydrants, $1,356.34 (5) Unforeseen Works, $3,857.44 Total $10,285.18

(1) Owing to pressure of other work minor repairs only were effected under this heading.

(2) A 2" W.I. Pipe, 1,900 ft. in length, was laid from the 18″ main in Taipo Road to supply Wong Uk and district.

(3) (a) A 4" C. I. pipe 600 ft, in length, was laid from the 15″ main in Coronation Road eastwards along Shantung Street. (b) A 3″ C. I. pipe 570 ft. in length, was laid from the 7" main in Austin Road Northwards along Pilkem Street, (c) A 4" C. I. pipe 500 ft. in length, was laid from Chatham Road along Barker Street, Hunghom.

(4) An experimental pedestal hydrant was fixed for the Fire Brigade at Tsim Sha Tsui and another at Jordan Road.

(5) (a) A portion of the rising main to Kaulungtong Service Reservoir was lowered to suit the new Taipo Road level and the 15" C. I. main was replaced by 280 ft. of 12" C. I. main. (b) Diversion effected of 600 lin. ft. of 6″ main at Kau Pui Shek, Kowloon City. (c) A 2" W. I. pipe, 2,700 ft. in length, was laid from the Kowloon City main as a temporary supply to Kaulungtong Development Scheme.
