179. Roads :
(a). Main Roads in Kowloon :
Chatham Road Extension, from Hunghom Northwards to Kowloon City. - This work was referred to in paragraph 173 (a) of last year's Report.
Progress at the beginning of the year was slow, but the work on the Northern Section proceeded more rapidly as the year advanced.

Kowloon City to Mongkok:-
Section II— West of Railway Embankment to Shinghai Street, Mongkoktsui.—This work was referred to in paragraph 173 of last year's Report.
During the year good progress was made despite the large quantity of rock met with.
By the end of the year, this work was well advanced.
Extending Coronation Road Northwards through hill (formerly K.F.L. 11.)—This work was referred to in paragraph 173 (a) of last year's Report.
This stretch of the road from Argyle Street to its junction with the Taipo Road was surfaced with 8" macadam and tar painted.
(b). Improvements to existing main roads :-
Diverting a portion of the existing roadway in the vicinity of the New Kowloon Hospital Site to the new alignment. —This work was referred to in paragraph 173 (4) of last year's Report.
