The septic tanks at Lugard Road, Repulse Bay, and near R.B.L. 137, Pokfulam Road, were periodically sludged.
All metal work in connection with the various drainage systems was inspected, and, where found necessary, repaired and tarred.
Repairs were effected to sewers, nullah, etc., the most important being to those situated as shown below:-

A considerable number of defective traps was renewed, and a number of old disused drains of various sizes and types destroyed and filled in.

53. Gas Lighting, City, Suburbs, and Hill District.-The total number of lamps in use at the end of the year in the City and its precincts was 1,369, an increase of 21 over the previous year, and in the Hill District 200, an increase of 39 as compared with the previous year.
