The number of plans submitted during 1924 shows a decrease in the number of proposed new houses, and it may, therefore, be anticipated that, at the end of 1925, there will be a fall in the number of new buildings completed.
24. Plans. The following is a tabulated statement showing the number of Buildings, etc., for which plans were deposited during the year, the figures for 1923 being given in a parallel column for purposes of comparison:

This shows a net decrease of 1,881 or 20 per cent.
The number of plans deposited during the year was 3,111 as compared with 3,459 for 1923, a decrease of 348 or 10 per cent.
The number of plans approved during the year was 4,258 as compared with 3,108 in 1923 an increase of 1,150 or 28 per cent.
25. Certificates.-The following certificates for new buildings were issued:
585, under Section 204 of Ordinauce 1 of 1903, for 1,955 domestic buildings, of which 200 were European and 1,755 Chinese dwellings.
94 for 109 non-domestic buildings.

These figures show an increase of 970 in the case of "Domestic and an increase of 58 in the number of Non- Domestic" buildings.
