Land Sales, &c.

17. Naval and Military Lands. The question of the proposed resumption of Military Lands in Hongkong and Kowloon, which was submitted to arbitration, is still under consideration.

There is nothing to report with regard to Naval Lands.

18. Piers.—In Hongkong, an extension was granted to Permanent Pier No. 8 opposite Marine Lots 297 and 305, The Premium paid was $15,250.00 (area 1,525 square feet).

Permission was given to erect Permanent Pier No. 39 opposite Marine Lot 396. The premium paid was $3,596.00 (area 1,798 sq. ft.).

In Kowloon, permission was given to erect Permanent Pier No. 33 without premium (area 950 square feet).

19. Cemeteries.-There is nothing to report under this heading.

20. Re-entries.—6 Lots in Hongkong, and 85 Lots in the Northern and 142 Lots in the Southern Districts of the New Territories were re-entered during the year.

21. Surveys. -Although applications for purchase of land were not so many as during the previous year, the number was still very great involving many surveys for sale plans, etc. Develop- ment was commenced of the numerous lots sold in 1923, and the survey staff was constantly engaged in setting out building areas. More than 57 of such areas were defined in Hongkong, and 190 in Kowloon and New Kowloon. In addition, many lots on the reclaimed areas at Mongkok and Taikoktsui were also set out.

Numerous surveys were also made for lease and other plans required by the Land Officer. /
