as a full-time professor of medicine in the University, Dr. G. E. Aubrey relinquished his post as honorary Visiting Physician to the hospital and this post was then filled by the professor of medicine to the University.
In Patients :- 5455 patients received treatment in hospital, the daily average being 166. Of these 75 were first class, 312 were 2nd class, and 5068 were third class.

Out-patients.- A new and up-to-date out-patients department was opened early in the year and has proved most helpful.
28297 persons attended as out-patients and 18 courses of anti-rabic vaccination were given,
The prescriptions dispensed numbered 18,727.
In 1922 there were 25,892 out-patients. 5998 persons were vaccinated against small-pox as compared with 885 in 1922.
It is probable that a much greater number of persons were vaccinated than the number given as the Civil Hospital was used as the teaching centre for the temporary vaccinators employed during the vaccination campaign and it is certain that operations owing to press of work were often not recorded.
