On the 31st December, 1920, there remained as follows:-

Captain Taylour, R.N. went on leave on the 29th May and retired on pension on the 29th August, 1920, after 26 years' service in the Colony.
Mr. Macdonald, Government Marine Surveyor, went on sick leave to Australia.
Commander C. W. Beckwith, R.N. was appointed Harbour Master on 29th August, 1920, and Lieut. Conway Hake, R.N.R. was appointed Assistant Harbour Master on the same day.
During this year a number of fast and commodious privately owned motor boats were placed at different points of the Harbour for the convenience of the public and are much appreciated by the Shipping generally. Some 42 of these boats are now plying in the Harbour.
