About 1,265 feet of old disused drains of various sizes and types were destroyed and filled in.
The details of expenditure under this heading are as follows:-
Labour for cleansing operations, $9,386.28 Repairs, 6,763.37 Tools for cleansing operations, 327.24 General incidental expenditure, 1,372.03 FOD $17,848.92as against $17,187.26 in the previous year.
52. Gas Lighting, City and Suburbs and Hill District.-The total number of lamps in use at the end of the year in the City and its precincts was 1,180, an increase of 32 over the previous year, and in the Hill District 129, an increase of 2 as compared with the previous year. The positions of the various additional lamps will be found in paragraph 97 of this Report.
53. Electric Lighting, City, Hill District and Shaukiwạn.---The numbers and positions of the incandescent electric lamps in use are as under :-

Incandescent lamps for lighting it adjacent to their property. These lamps were inadvertently omitted from the statement contained in last year's Report. They were provided in 1914 for illuminating a board containing addresses of residents in the neighbourhood of Barker Road,
