INFECTIOUS DISEASES HOSPITALS, KENNEDY TOWN.

REPORT BY DR. C. W. MCKENNY, Medical Officer.

Buildings. No structural alterations have been made and the buildings have been maintained in good condition.

Staff-No changes have been made.

The hospital was open for eight months. It was closed during the months of August, September, October, and November.

One patient was carried over from 1917 and the hospital was empty at the end of the year.

The total number of admissions was 31.

The nationalities of the patients were:-

English 7 Chinese 8 Japanese 4 Indian 3 Portuguese ... Filipino 5 Finn 2 Celebian 1

Their conditions were as follows:-

Cerebro-spinal meningitis 19 Small-pox 5 Varicella 2 Typhoid fever 1 In attendance 2 Under observation 2

Cerebro-spinal meningitis.

Of this disease 12 sufferers were male and 7 female.

7 patients recovered and 12 died.

Small-pox.

No patient died.

4 cases were of the Discrete type and one of the Confluent.
