This work was commenced in August and by the end of the year a length of 200 feet of 5′ 0″ x 3' 0" cement concrete nullah had been constructed and the banks on either side levelled off.

Shamshuipo—Reclamation Scheme to provide sites for lessees dislodged from old Village.—The second contract, which was described in last year's Report (paragraph 146) was completed in April at a cost of $50,581.05. In addition to the two contracts for reclamation work, the large channel referred to in paragraph 115 of the Report for 1912 and sundry minor works were executed under this heading.

Fencing around Police Stations.—To afford greater protection to the Police Stations at Shataukok, Sheung Shui, Au Tau and Ping Shan, unclimbable iron fencing has been erected at a distance of about 30 yards from the buildings with the necessary gates, etc. The stations are practically surrounded by the fencing.
