For this purpose, a 2" pipe was laid from the clear-water channel below the Main Dam to the Filter Beds. This was found to give a satisfactory supply. The total cost of the work was $1,771.11, but a portion of it was inadvertently charged to the sub-head "Miscellaneous Works, Kowloon", (vide paragraph 134).

136. Cheung Chau Police Station.—This work was fully described in last year's Report, having been completed in December 1913, and only sundry payments remained to be made in 1914.
In addition to the payments made in connection with the construction of the Station, a sum of $2,990.00 was paid from this vote for the removal of Cheung Chau Market so as to open up access from the sea front to the new Station.

Lok Ma Chau Police Station.—The Police force stationed in the north-western district of the New Territories has hitherto been accommodated in a Chinese house in Santin village, but, as the accommodation was found to be inadequate and unsatisfactory, it was decided to erect a new Police Station on the summit of a hill overlooking the Sham Chun River at Lok Ma Chau.
