108. Draining Swamps at Shaukiwan.-This work consisted of draining an area of level swampy ground near Shauwan Gap to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes. Concrete channels of varying sizes, totalling 2,007 lineal feet in length, were constructed and subsoil drains of a total length of 1,080 lineal feet were laid. The works were completed by the end of the year.
