Deaths-The deaths numbered 194 making a percentage of 7.1 as against 178 with a percentage of 6.4. Of these deaths 94 occurred within 24 hours of admission.

Nationality of Patients admitted:-Europeans 620 as against 553, Indian and Coloured 789 as against 771, Asiatics 1,333 as against 1,469. The death rate was-Europeans 2.8 per cent., Indians 4 per cent. and Asiatics 10.8 per cent.
