DAIRIES AND COWSHEDS.

185,231 182,791 223,705 Rinderpest was prevalent at the Dairy Farm, Pokfulam, and was treated by inoculations of anti-rinderpest serum with good results.

Foot and Mouth Disease was also prevalent and of a very severe type.

Other dairies in the Colony were exempt from disease.

The alteration of the amount of floor space per cow from 24 sq. ft. to 32 sq. ft. has materially improved many of the Chinese owned dairies.

IMPORTATION OF FRESH BEEF AND MUTTON.

The importations of fresh beef and mutton were respectively 463,128 lbs. and 405,701 lbs. The Dairy Farm Co. and Messrs. A. B. Moulder & Co. were the only importers.
