SUGGESTED BASIS OF CIRCULAR TO BE SENT BY THE COMMITTEE TO THE GOVERNMENTS OF THE DOMINIONS BEYOND THE SEAS.

The Committee having now completely arranged for one side of their work, namely, the delivery throughout the Empire of lectures descriptive of the Home Country, have now turned their attention to the complementary problem of impart- ing in the Home Country knowledge of the external portions of the Empire. This, of course, is in certain respects a larger undertaking. It will probably be necessary to provide some five courses, each of six lectures, and if each lecture is illustrated with fifty slides, it follows that 1,500 slides will be needed. In order that both slides and lectures may be authoritative and typical, and yet that the scheme may have a certain uniformity throughout, the following plan is proposed. In each Colony some suitable official or other person should be appointed to select photo- graphs, and to obtain either colour photographs or good watercolour sketches, and These would at the same time to arrange the necessary material for the lectures.

be delivered by Mr. Mackinder, with the aid of the material thus placed at his disposal.
