The imports into the United Kingdom from British Colonies during the period from 1897 to 1901 show a decrease from 21 per cent. to 20 per cent. on Colonial produce, whilst the exports of British produce to the Colonies, from 1897 to 1901, have increased from 84 per cent. to 37 per cent.

The value of the total imports of merchandise from British Colonies to the United Kingdom between 1897 and 1901 show an increase of 11,566,000l., whilst the value of total imports as above from foreign countries show an increase of 59,4151.; showing an approximate increase of foreign trade of 17 per cent against an approximate

• }rit increase of Colonial trade of 11 per cent.

Total export of domestic produce from the United Kingdom to British Colonies during the five years from 1897 to 1901 increased by 24,000,000, whilst similar exports to foreign countries increased 21,500,0007.

New Zealand imported during the year 1901 into the United Kingdom per head of population of Colony 13 71. on all articles, and on articles of food and drink only, 6.641, whilst the exports of the United Kingdom to New Zealand per head of population amounted to 7.241. on all articles, and 6·621, on "articles manufactured and partly manufactured.”
