(a) The values of the imports of Silk Ribbons in the year 1901-2 were $46,799 and $706,946 from the United Kingdom and Foreign Countries respectively. In 1901-2 these imports were included in "Bilk, Manufactures of," and in 1902-3 in "Bibbons, and allowance should be mado accordingly in any comparison of these two items for the two years,

Owing to the incomplete differentiation of countries in the volume from which these figures are taken this total unavoidably includes the value of some imports from British Colonies, though such values have been excluded where known. As the imports from the colonies are largely of articles which do not appear in this Return the amount so involved is therefore very small and could in no way affect any conclusions derived from comparing this with other and similar Returns.
