My Committee fels," Lauterfels," and "Werdenfels," lying at Alexandria. concur that the insurance of these ships is to be taken as having commenced at noon on the 27th of January, 1915.

When the name of any ship to be insured is communi- cated to you, the date from which the insurance is to take effect will be the date on which the order for detention has been made by the Prize Court, provided such order is made subsequently to the 29th of January.

I enclose a list* of the ships, which my Committee consider should come under the scheme. The list of ships in New South Wales, Canada, and South Africa must be taken as a provisional one. It is possible that the list may have to be revised when replies are received from the Governments of these Dominions.

The insurance will take effect in the case of all these ships, except in the case In the case of the of the "Marquis Bacquehem," from the 29th of January. ship named the insurance will date from the 3rd of February, the date of the order for detention by the Prize Court.

MESSRS. GLANVILL, ENTHOVEN AND COMPANY to OVERSEA PRIZE DISPOSAL COMMITTEE.

DEAR SIR,

1 REFERRING to your letter of the 10th instant, relative to the insurance of enemy detained ships lying at oversea ports, we beg to advise that we have arranged with the Commercial Union Company (the leading company on your cover) that all insurances are to take effect from the date on which the order for detention has been made by the Prize Courts at the various oversea parts.

17, Gracechurch Street, London, E.C., 12th February, 1915.

We thank you for the list of ships which are to come under the scheme now, and note that those in New South Wales, Canada, and South Africa must be taken as provisional. We also note that the date of commencement for the "Marquis Bacquehem" is to be the 3rd February, this being the date on which the order for detention was made by the Prize Court.

We enclose formal cover note herewith.

Rabenfels"

In reference to the postscript to your letter, we note that the 8.8. is the vessel which we are to insure. The mistake was made owing to Messrs. Grahams & Company having put in their list the "Rappenfels," and we accordingly sent that steamer's name to Messrs. Lachlan & Company.

We are, &c.,
