James Rose Innes, Attorney-General, as Delegate of Cape Colony at consultation on question of trial, Court of Appeal. As meeting likely to take place early in May, Innes will be prepared to leave so as to be present at that time.

I AM directed by Lord George Hamilton to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 23rd February† (5930/1901), on the subject of the proposal to recast the Supreme Courts of Appeal for the Empire.
In reply, I am to state that his Lordship, concurring in the suggestion of Mr. Chamberlain that the Government of India should be represented at the projected Conference, has appointed Sir John Edge, a member of his Council, to attend on behalf of that Government, and has communicated with the Government of India by telegraph, inviting them to state any points which they think should be brought forward at the Conference.
