Any person employed by the Post Master or the graph Company who publishes or communicates the contents Vict. c. 73, or substance of any letter transmitted by post, or of any tele- gram to any person to whom it is not his duty to make such 17 & 48 publication or communication, is guilty of a misdemeanour, and Viet c. 76, is also guilty of a simple offence.

Any person not being, or not being in the position of, the parent or guardian of the addressee of any letter, packet, or parcel transmitted by post, or of any telegram, who without 54&55V.c. lawful excuse, and with intent to injure such addressee, opens 46, s. 10. any such letter, packet, parcel, or telegram, or causes it to be opened, or does anything by which the delivery to the addressee of such letter, or packet, or parcel, or telegram, is prevented or impeded,

is guilty of a misdemeanour, but is not liable to more than one year's imprisonment if he is not in the employ- ment of the Post Master or the Telegraph Company.
95.-Neglect of Duty- Detention of Letters, &c.
Any person employed by the Post Master or the graph Company who

(1) wilfully neglects, or refuses to do any act with respect to the receipt, despatch, or delivery of any thing transmitted by post; or
(2) negligently detains, or delays, or permits the deten- tion or delay, of any such thing or telegram;
in guilty of a simple offence, and liable to a penalty of one hundred pounds.
96.—Obstructing Letters or Telegrams.
Any person who wilfully obstructs or delays the conveyance or delivery of any thing transmitted by post is guilty of a simple offence, and is liable to a fine of fifty pounds.

97.-Driver or Carrier loitering or being negligent. Any person employed by the Post Master or the graph Company to drive or take charge of any mail conveyance, or to carry or delivery anything in course of transmission by post, who
(1) loiters on the road or misspends his time so as to retard or delay the delivery of any thing aforesaid; or
(2) does not use proper care and diligence to convey any such thing at the rate of speed appointed by, and according to, the regulations of the Post Office, or the Telegraph Company; or
(3) commits any act of carelessness, negligence, or misconduct, whereby the safety of any such thing is endangered;
is guilty of a simple offence.

places or puts, or attempts to place or put, in, or on, or near, any post office letter-box anything likely to injure the box or its appurtenances or contents; or
sends, or attempts to send, by post anything which, either from its nature or from the manner in which it is packed, is likely to injure any other thing sent by post; or
sends, or attempts to send, by post any indecent or obscene document, picture, or thing, or anything which has on or about it any indecent or obscene words, marks, or design; or
who removes, dainages, or defaces any public notice ex- hibited under the authority of the Post Master or the Telegraph Company; or
who wilfully obstructs any person employed by the Post Master or the Telegraph Company in the perform-
ance of his duty;
is guilty of a simple offence.
