Where any person is liable to be sentenced to be flogged or whipped, such punishinent may be afflicted in addition to, or in substitution for, any punishment to which the offender in otherwise liable, and the number of the strokes to be inflicted. and the time or times of their infliction shall be in the dis- cretion of the Court; provided—

(1.) That in case of flogging not more than fifty strokes shall be inflicted at one time; and

(2.) That in case of whipping not more than twenty- jive strokes shall be inflicted at one time; and

(3.) That no flogging or whipping shall take place after the expiration of six months from the passing of the sentence; and

(4.) That no person shall be flogged or whipped more than twice under one sentence; and

(5.) That there shall be at least fourteen days' interval between two inflictions of flogging or whipping; and

(6.) That no female shall be flogged or whipped. Where

any male person under the age of 16 is convicted of any offence under Chapters XI., XII., XVI., XVII., XXII., XXIII., XXIV., and XXIX of this Code, the Court may sentence him to be whipped in substitution for any other punishment.

10.-Police Supervision.

Where any person becomes on conviction liable to police supervision the infliction and duration of such supervision is in the discretion of the Court; so that it does not exceed seven years in the case of a felony or misdemeanour, or two years in the case of a simple offence. In every case where it is inflicted the Court shall specify its duration. It may be inflicted together with, or apart from, any other punishinent, and may be inflicted on a person, bound over to come up for judgment when called on, under section 13 of this Code. When penal servitude or imprisonment is inflicted it shall commence at the termination thereof.

11.-Modes of inflicting Punishment,

The Governor may from time to time, subject to the pro- visions of this Code and any other law in force in the Colony, make, alter, and repeal regulations as to the method of in- flicting any punishment, the method of receiving and recovering any fine, the application of money paid as a fine, the method of carrying out police supervision, the entering into of recognisances, and the infliction of imprisonment in default thereof; and regulations so made or altered shall be of as much force as if they were part of this Code till they are repealed,
