I HAVE the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch of the 8th of May, with reference to a contribution of £20 from King Nyemah and his chiefs of Grand Cess, Liberia, and to inform you that I see no objection to accepting the contribution.
2. I shall be glad if you will inform the donors accordingly, and express His Majesty's appreciation of the sentiments conveyed in their letter of the 23rd of April. The money might be handed over to the Red Cross and the donors informed that it is being applied to the care of the sick and wounded.

THE Crown Agents for the Colonies have paid to the British Red Cross Society the sum of £21 108. from the funds in their hands belonging to the Colony of Sierra Leone, on account of two subscriptions of £20 and £1 10s. sent respectively
by the Kroo chief Nyemah, of Grand Cess, in Liberia, and by Mr. Kalilu Jarwatt, a Syrian trader in the Sierra Leone Protectorate.

Government House, Sierra Leone, 4th June, 1915. I HAVE the honour to inform you that the members of the local Bar and others entitled to practise before the Supreme Court have forwarded to me a cheque for 100 guineas, with a request that it should be transmitted to you to be handed over to the Prince of Wales's Fund, or to such other fund for the relief of suffering and distress caused by the war as you may select.
2. I have caused an expression of my thanks to be conveyed to the members of the Bar for their generous contribution, which was raised among themselves quite spontaneously.
3. The amount in question has been placed on deposit in the Colonial Treasury, and I beg that you will be good enough to instruct the Crown Agents to pay it to the relief fund which you may consider the most appropriate.

I HAVE the honour to inform you that a sum of £54 has been spontaneously subscribed by the Seriki Abasi and the inhabitants of the towns in the Aiyetoro Division of the Abeokuta Province, as an expression of their loyalty and desire to assist the Government as far as lies in their power.
2. I have to request that this sum, which the Crown Agents have been instructed to pay to you, may be applied for such purpose as seems most advisable, and that you will be good enough to inform me of the object upon which you decide. in order that the subscribers, to whom I have conveyed my cordial thanks, may be informed.
