To Imperial forces in Europe, 59,955 two-ounce tins of Navy Cut tobacco, 80,584 two-ounce bags smoking mixture, 400,400 packets of cigarettes in cartons of ten.
To the National Relief (Prince of Wales's) Fund, £3,984.
The following further gifts have been made:-
For purchase of an aeroplane for service in Europe, £1,500. This fund is still open, and it is hoped that a second aeroplane will shortly be provided.
£2,067 have been subscribed by children of Rhodesia for presenting ambu-
lances to Imperial Government.
Three motor ambulances are now under construction in England, costing approximately £1,200. The remainder of the fund, which is still open, will be devoted to maintenance of ambulances.
To the Belgian Widows' and Orphans' Fund, £6,753.
To the Belgian Relief Committee, ten cases of clothing (value about £250). For Belgian children, fifty complete outfits of clothing.
To British Red Cross Society, £334.
Arrangements are now being made to send 200 cases fruit to troops in France. Subscriptions amounting to approximately £13,200 have been contributed to date towards Rhodesia regiments' comforts, local Red Cross, and local relief.

I HAVE the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Your Excellency's despatch of the 16th instant, transmitting a copy of a despatch* from the Secretary of State respecting gifts received from the various parts of the Empire, and asking for par- ticulars with regard to contributions from the territory under my charge.

29th June, 1915. I HAVE the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Your Lordship's despatch of 16th June, enclosing a copy of a despatch* from the Secretary of State respecting gifts contributed by the various parts of the Empire.
2. As I am in some doubt as to the statement desired by Mr. Harcourt, I forward full particulars of contributions raised in this territory in connexion with the war.
3. The amount contributed to the Northern Rhodesia Red Cross and Relief Fund from the date of Mrs. Wallace's appeal (5th September, 1914) to 24th June, 1915, is £2,269 19s. 11d., which includes the sum of £7 4s. 9d. collected by Chief Letia, heir to the Barotse chieftainship. From this fund £250 has been sent home to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales's Fund (National Relief), £500 to the War Refugees' Committee Fund, and £15 10s. Od. to the British Red Cross Society. 4. In addition to the above amount, Lewanika, Paramount Chief of the Barotse nation, contributed £200† to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales's Fund (National Relief); the Angoni chiefs in the Fort Jameson Sub-District £32 0s. 114d., which they desired should go towards the purchase of an aeroplane for His Majesty's Army, as explained in my despatch No. 174, of 31st May and £30 has been collected by the ladies of Livingstone and sent home for Belgian soldiers.

It does not by any means represent the total subscriptions, as a considerable amount has been collected and sent direct to various Imperial war funds through Mrs. Martin (Police), Francis- town; Mrs. Reilly (Magistrate's wife), Serowe; Mrs. Ledeboer (Police), Lobatsi; Mra Ellenberger (Assistant Commissioner's wife), Gaberones; Mrs. Eason, Mafeking; and other ladies, of which there are no details in this office.
