Reports on the disbandment of the

two Volunteer Corps and the forma tion in their place of two Militia infantry companies, and encloses a report by the Inspector-General of Police on the recruiting of these companies.

Transmits, in reply to No. 9, a copy of a letter from the Treasury, stating that the Bank of England would be willing to give credit in the United Kingdom for gold deposited in British Guiana on the terms indi- cated.

secretly a supply of Government notes, for issue should the state of the currency render this necessary, and proposes, if this should not suf fice, to pass an Ordinance making the notes of the Royal Bank of Canada and the Colonial Bank legal tender.

Reports that the local banks have greatly reduced their charges sa a result of the knowledge that the Bank of England was prepared to purchase gold, and proposes to take no further action in the matter.
