2. I at once sent a copy of your letter to the Administrators of St. Lucia and St. Vincent, and requested them to let me have their budget estimates for the first year of the proposed operations on the lines of your discussions with them, and of the estimate prepared in consultation with you by our Medical Officers.
3. On receipt of communications from St. Lucia and St. Vincent, I shall lose no time in laying your proposals before the Secretary of State.
In the meanwhile, allow me on behalf of this Government, to express our hearty appreciation of the generous offer the International Health Commission has in view of aiding these islands to clear themselves of ankylostomiasis, and of the courteous manner in which you communicated the objects the Commission has in view.

Governor.
SIR,
MR. WICKLIFFE ROSE TO THE GOVERNOR OF THE WINDWARD Islands.
725, Southern Building, Washington, D.C., 13th December, 1913.
I TAKE it that the letter addressed to Your Excellency from Trinidad has been received before this. I am enclosing copy of the tentative budget which was agreed upon at our Conference. It occurs to me that it might be well, in working out the budget for the various islands, to have at least approximate uniformity in order to prevent possible dissatisfaction on the part of persons employed in the service. I expect to be here until early in February, at which time it is my purpose to sail for Egypt, Ceylon, and the Malay States. Any matter sent to me between this I shall undertake to leave the and February will have my personal attention. matter in such shape that our Board can act upon any proposition presented even in my absence.
I desire to express my grateful appreciation of the unbounded kindness and the many courtesies extended to me at the time of my visit to Grenada.
His Excellency the Governor,
Grenada.
Grenada.
I have, &c.,
WICKLIFFE ROSE.

Grenada, 29th December, 1913. I HAVE the pleasure to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 13th instant, and to thank you for enclosing copy of the tentative budget worked out from the notes taken at an interview with the Medical Officers of Grenada.
2. I enclose copy of the budget* prepared by Dr. Hatton as a result of the conclusions arrived at at the same interview.
There are discrepancies between the two estimates, which appear to be chiefly due to the fact that in the budget received with your letter under reply provision for only one microscopist appears to have been made instead of four, and certain items, such as rent for quarters for the microscopists, and £145 for equipment do not figure in your list.
Would you oblige me by glancing through Dr. Hatton's estimates and letting me know if they meet with your approval?
3. I fully agree that it will be in every way desirable to aim at uniformity in
the budgets of the three islands, and I shall endeavour to do so.
4. I much appreciate the opportunity your visit to Grenada afforded me and
my officers of discussing with you questions of such importance to the health of the Colony, and I am very pleased that you carried away with you pleasant recollections of the island.
Wickliffe Rose, Esquire,
Director, International Health Commission,

OPINION OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL OF GRENADA.
In Executive Council, 9th December, 1913. DISCUSSED. The Council unanimously approved the proposals, and agreed that this Colony's hearty appreciation of its generous offer should be conveyed to the Commission.
Enclosure 6 in No. 6.
THE ADMINISTRATOR, ST. VINCENT, to THE GOVERNOR OF THE WINDWARD ISLANDS. HIS EXCELLENCY,
I HAVE Considered this generous offer made on behalf of the International Health Commission, and am of the opinion that this Colony should accept it in the spirit in which it is made, and should take this opportunity of getting rid of a disease that, for lack of the necessary funds from local sources, may continue to undermine the energies and health of a large percentage of the community for an indefinite number of years to come.
