DEAR MR. KEITH,
No. 39.
SIERRA LEONE.
SIR E. M. MEREWETHER to MR. KEITH. (Received 1st September, 1914.)
Government House, Sierra Leone, 10th August, 1914.
I AM sending herewith a set of photographs taken by local photographers which I hope will be sufficient for the purposes of the Visual Instruction Com- mittee. I think they are fairly typical of Sierra Leone.
The panorama groups do not appear to join properly, but I am told that this is inevitable because, in the printed form, the photograph includes a part of the preceding or succeeding picture.
I am advised that the photographers possess copyright in their photographs, but they have agreed to their prints being used for lantern slides by the Visual Instruction Committee on condition-
(a) That acknowledgment shall be made in the printed lecture (if it is
printed); and
(b) That, in the event. of any of the photos being reproduced in books, the photographer's name shall appear at the foot of the reproduction. No doubt you will be able to arrange that these conditions are complied with. The photos are numbered, but of course the Committee can arrange them in any order they choose.
Yours very truly,
E. M. MEREWETHER.
