NOTES ON PROPOSED ADDITIONAL EXPENDITURE FOR 1914-15.

(a) I have estimated for a full-time Assistant Director at £400; it may be necessary to offer £450, The sum is put at £75 because his appointment would date at earliest from 1st July, 1914.

(b) The senior typist receives 33s. 6d. a week; it is proposed to give her an addi- tional 2s. 6d. per week from 1st July, 1914.

(c) The second typist is taking over the duties of Assistant Librarian; she at present receives 25s. a week. It is proposed to increase this to 27s. 6d.

(d) If Tropical Sanitation (or "Applied Hygiene in the Tropics") is treated in a separate publication, Colonel King should be treated similarly to Mr. Sheather rather than as an ordinary Sectional Editor. In that case I would propose that his annual remuneration should be £150 instead of £50. Allowance must also be made for three extra numbers at £20, i.e., £60.
