17. Additional information to be given, if possible, on the following points:

(a) For the whole Colony, the Mosquito Ordinance No. 19 of 1910.

For the city of Georgetown, in addition, by-laws as to screening of

vats, 1907.

For the town of New Amsterdam, in addition, by-laws as to the

screening of vata, 1915.

Many hundreds of notices, etc., during the year.

(b) On the sugar estates, over 10,000. About 5 per cent. to 7 per cent.

enlarged.

In the village schools, about 7,500.

In the healthier areas, 5 per cent. to 10 per cent. enlarged; in the more unhealthy districts, 20 per cent. to 40 per cent. enlarged.

No case of kala-azar has ever been recorded in this Colony.

(c) No special examination this year. Examinations carried out in the public hospital, Georgetown, in 1896, and again in 1907, show Those that about 13 per cent. of those admitted are infected. most affected are the Portuguese and mixed races.

The children of the Orphan Asylum were examined in 1911 and again in 1914. On each occasion just over 40 per cent. were found affected.

In the general country districts the percentage of infection is

probably very much less than in the city of Georgetown.

2,802 ozs. sold for $896.57 by the Government post offices.

2,256 ozs. distributed free by the Government to children in schools.

49,791 ozs. distributed free by the estates proprietors to all labourers

and children on the estates.
