Forwards copies of No. 56; submits observations on the objections to the scheine raised by the Indian Govern- ment, and suggests that that Govern- ment should contribute £500 per annum to the cost of the scheme.
Describes proposals which are being | 71
submitted to the Governments con- cerned for the formation of an Imperial Burean of Entomology, and states that it is proposed to approach Treasury later with a view to obtain- ing a contribution from Imperial funds of £500 per annum towards the upkeep of the Bureau.
States that their Lordships will await the further communication referred to in No. 73; they do not clearly understand what will be the relation of the proposed Bureau to the existing scheme of investigation, and whether it will be partly or wholly in substitu- tion for the existing scheme.
Reviews the work and objects of the Entomological Research Committee since its inauguration in 1909, (Pub- lished as No. 1 in [Cd. 6429] Novem- ber, 1912.)

Expresses satisfaction at the decision to support the scheme of co-operation, and leaves it to them to determine as to payment of the contribution in respect of the current financial year: [to Jamaica: trusts that provision both for an entomologist and for the contribution to the Committee may be made.]
Transmits a copy of a letter from the Director of Agriculture urging the desirability of appointing an eatomo- logist on the staff of his department, and requests that the matter may be referred to the Entomological Research Committee for advice.
Confirms telegram reporting that the Legislative Council have agreed to contribute £25.
Transmits copies of a Parliamentary Paper containing a report on the work of the Committee, and requests that copies may be forwarded to Egypt, the Sondan, and Zanzibar, and that the Soudan Government should be! asked whether they wish to participate in the benefits of the Committee's organization, and whether they would contribute £50 per annum.
