trying-out, and other treatment of the carcases of any whales captured shall from time to time be determined and proclaimed by the Minister of Lands after consulta- tion with the Administrator.
The crews and owners of such boats shall be liable to the provisions of No. 7 of these Regulations in respect to the pursuit of immature whales and cows and to suck other conditions as may be from time to time imposed.

The subjoined additions to, and amendments of the Regulations (published under Government Notice No. 17, 1907, as amended by Government and Provincial Notices Nos. 710, 1907; 284, 1908; 110, 1909; 536, 1909; 43, 1910; 77, 1910; and 182, 1912)) framed in pursuance of Section 32 of the Coast Fisheries Act, No. 31 of 1906, have been approved by the Executive Committee, and are published for general information.

The words person and "licensee as used in these Regulations shall be deemed to include person, company, corporate body, or partnership business.
The expressions "whaling and porpoise fishing" include the killing or capture by any means of whales or of porpoises and other aquatic mammals, and also the treatment of the carcases, or parts of the carcases, for the production of
commercial products, or the use or sale of the flesh, and the setting up of a place of business for any such purpose.
The term "boat "shall mean every vessel of whatever size and in whatever way propelled which is used by any person carrying on the business of whaling.
SUNDRY PROHIBITIONS.
Section 16-addition.
(k) Any fish by the method of capture known by the term "Jiggering," that
is by jerking fish out of the water by means of a bare hook or hooks.

Section 25 repealed.
KRAALS-PROCEDURE AS TO LICENCES.
Section 42, sub-section (c)—addition.
Notice of such application to be advertised in the "Provincial Gazette," and twice in a newspaper circulating in the district, or approved by the Principal Fisheries Officer, proof of such advertisement to be furnished by the applicant by furnishing a copy each of the paper and gazette in which the notice appears.

Section 66-amendment.
appearing in Section 66 are hereby repealed and the substituted therefor.
Section 71-amendment.
The following words shall be inserted in Section 71 between the words "Gazette and "to": "and such other newspapers as may be approved by the Principal Fisheries Officer."
WHALING AND PORPOISE FISHING.
No. 74. No person shall without the appropriate annual licence from the Administrator carry on in the Province of Natal or the territorial waters thereof the business, or any part of the business, of whaling or porpoise fishing.
No. 75. The annual charges for whaling and porpoise licences shall be as follows:-
For a whaling licence, £50.
For a porpoise licence, £25.
Every such licence shall expire on the 31st day of December following the date of its issue, provided that companies carrying on the business of whaling at the date of the commencement of these Regulations shall not be required to take a whaling licence until the 1st day of January, 1913.
The fee for a licence issued after the 30th day of June shall be £25 in the case of a whaling licence and £12 10s. in the case of a porpoise licence.
No. 76-Every boat employed by the holder of a whaling or porpoise fishing licence shall carry such distinctive mark or number as the Principal Fisheries Officer may from time to time prescribe and such mark shall be specified in the licence.
No. 77. No net shall be used for whaling or porpoise fishing under these Regu- lations which shall have a less mesh than six inches or which exceeds 6,000 feet in length, and such net may be divided into sections, but no such division shall be allowed which shall cause any diminution in the size of the mesh.of the net.
No. 78. For each factory erected within the jurisdiction of the Province of Natal and used in connection with the whaling industry there shall be paid an annual licence charge of £1.
No. 79. No licence issued under these Regulations shall endure after the 31st day of December following the date of its issue.
The Licensing Officer may issue licences in respect of the boats and nets after the 30th June at one-half of the prescribed fee.
All applications for licences under these Regulations shall be made on the pre- scribed form.
