DEAR MR. NIghtingale,
[Answered by No. 74.]
Downing Street, 18 February, 1913. WITH reference to the letter addressed to Mr. Burns by Sir Charles Lucas, on behalf of the Visual Instruction Committee, on the 16th of February, 1911.||| and to your letter in reply of the 22nd of February, 1911, I have to transmit to you, to be laid before the High Commissioner for the Union of South Africa, copies of two further books of lantern lectures, entitled respectively "Australasia" and the "Sea Road to the East," which have now been issued by the Committee. A further set of lectures on Canada and Newfoundland will probably be ready in the
summer.
With reference to the last paragraph of your letter, Sir Charles Lucas wrote to Mr. Malan on the 12th of June, 1911,** but nothing further has been heard of the matter here.
Mr. Chiappini, to whom you referred the Committee in your letter to me of the 14th of May, 1912,† † has furnished a large number of excellent photographs for use in connection with the lectures on South Africa which are now being prepared. In this connection I should be glad if you could tell me of anybody in this country who has a collection of paintings of South African scenery, since it is desired to have a certain number of the lantern slides accurately coloured.
