The Secretary's allowance was continued for six months to the 31st of March, and Sir Charles Lucas gave notice that he would be prepared to propose an increase in the allowance if the financial position and prospects would permit.

The sale was reported of the slides of two single lectures of the "India" set, and of two complete sets, to the War Office and to the Warwick County Council respec- tively, of the "Sea Road" slides. A set of the slides of the lecture on Ceylon had also been sold. During the last twelve months 838 copies of the book on India had been sold, and during the first three weeks after publication 115 copies of the book on the Sea Road.”

'Sir Everard im Thurn said that he had inspected most of the slides for the Australasia lectures. They varied in excellence, but were, on the whole, good. Mr. Sargent was in a position to insert the numbers of the slides in his proof, and the final proof could be disposed of in a few weeks. It was decided that Mr. Sargent should be informed that he need not wait for the arrival of photographs which were expected from Australia.

Sir Everard im Thurn said that during his holiday Mr. Sargent had written practically the whole of the lectures on Cañada. Slides had been made from Mr. Fisher's Canadian photographs, and Mr. Sargent had inspected the photographs at the office of the High Commissioner for Canada, and had found there nearly all the additional photographs required. Sir Charles Lucas had obtained from the Views in Nova Governor of Newfoundland views of Newfoundland and Labrador. Scotia and in British Columbia were still required, and it was decided that Mr. Sargent should call on the Provincial Agents.

The lectures on South Africa had not yet been written, but Mr. Sargent was prepared to begin work on them very soon. It was understood that the Committee would have no exclusive right over the photographs which the Union Government of South Africa would supply, but the Committee agreed with Sir Philip Hutchins's view that no great importance need be attached to this question of exclusive rights. Sir Everard im Thurn said that no such rights could be obtained over the photographs of South Africa, which had been lent by a member of the British Association.
