to support the scheme for the investigation of noxious insects in the British Empire, and to contribute £50 per annum towards its cost.

Ministers have the honour to acknowledge receipt of His Excellency the Governor-General's minute, No. 33/142, of 5th October last, on the subject of a scheme for the more extended investigation of the noxious insects which occur in different parts of the Empire, and in reply to state that they will be pleased to co-operate in this important matter and contribute the sum of £150 per annum towards the expenditure involved in connection therewith, in terms of the despatch from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies of 6th September last.

1. Before the business of the meeting began, Dr. Shipley stated that he wished

to express the pleasure felt by the Committee on learning that their Chairman and Professor Newstead had been made Fellows of the Royal Society, and to offer them the Committee's congratulations. Lord Cromer replied, thanking Dr. Shipley and the Committee on his own behalf and on behalf of Professor Newstead, who was unavoidably absent from the meeting.

2. The minutest of the 9th General Meeting were approved.

3. Mr. Marshall submitted his quarterly report (copy annexed:) The Com- mittee approved his recommendation that the salary of his assistant (Mr. Campion) should be raised from £120 to £150 per annum as from the 1st of April, 1912.

4. Dr. Shipley read a report from the Selection Sub-Committee dealing with the appointment of Mr. C. Strickland as Travelling Medical Entomologist in the Federated Malay States and the appointment of a new Carnegie scholar (copy annexed).

5. Mr. Marshall submitted a report on his visit to the West Indies in January as representative of the Committee at the West Indian Agricultural Conference at
