not be justified in recommending that the despatch relating to the operations in the Tong Hills should be published in the "Gazette," or that a medal should be granted in respect of the operations. They decided, however, to recommend that Sergeant-Major Egala Grunshi, of the Northern Territories Constabulary, should be awarded the West African Frontier Force Distinguished Conduct Medal.

The Council next considered a despatch from His Majesty's Agent and Consul-General at Cairo, dated the 25th March, 1911, enclosing a copy of a despatch relating to operations against the mountain tribes of Tagoi, Katla Kurun, and Tima, in the Southern Kordofan province of the Soudan. Mr. Vansittart explained that the Khedive had already granted a medal for the operations in question, and that, as the Army Council had now approved of the British officers con- cerned in the operations wearing the medal, there was no further point upon which the Foreign Office desired the recommendations of the Council. In these circumstances, the Council had no observations to offer upon the despatch.
